Beer Open 2015
Seven Bridges — 19 September 2015
The Odds
12:40pm - The Men 3-1
Rich, Brian O'Malley, Jim Scibek, Ranjit Soodan
Sometimes, you meet a group of guys and you say, 'Those are men. That is what men should be.' So, not these guys. But they can definitely play golf. Thank goodness we stuck Ranjit with them, otherwise they would be the favorites.
12:50pm - The Green Machine - 17-1
Brian Byrne, Justin Kline, Karl Krewenka, Mark Menacho
Smoke Trails. Cart Clam Bakes. Dedication. This foursome is a MACHINE of AWESOMENESS. Unfortunately, their strength is their weakness. Themselves.
1:00pm - German Man and the Lederhosen - 2-1
Nat Darneider, , Buddy Lee, Tom Melzl, Joe Monegato
This just feels like the year for the Master Race. I know, crazy talk, but I feel it in my bones. German Man Uber Alles! And Joe!
1:10pm - All Sizzle and No 'Ship - 5-1
Bill Brumett, Pat Collins, Craig Gantar, Pat Kleszynski
Two former Beer Open winners? Check. Two ringers? Check. Ability to build a championship team? Check. Earned lifelong nickname in post Beer Open ping pong match? CHECK! In the running, but my guess is they fall just short...
1:20pm - The Jimmy Walker Love Palace - 4-1
Beh Afshar, Greg Bradley, Dan Dodson, Ben Zeiser
The team name reference is obtuse and will be lost on all of you, but I enjoyed it. More importantly, is this the year? I mean seriously, is this it? So close so many times. They are in the running, but can they finish?
1:30pm - The Dream Team - 2-5
Tom Canepa, Jim Gotti, Chris Marzec, John Prouty
Talk about dedication. This team forced one of their teammates to move to the national capitol of golf just to get better. Another member is UNDEFEATED in Beer Open play. And a third is the best barefoot golfer ever in Beer Open history. I say they cannot lose.
1:40pm - The Swinehausers - 100-1
Dave Bennet, Phil Lotsoff, Kevin Sarsany, Mike Wysockey
This team loves smoked meat. I repeat, this team LOVES smoked meat. They will be leading the tournament after 6 holes, thanks to the best golfer in the tourney, Kevin Sarsany. They will be in last by the 12th hole, never to recover. But no one will have a better time. No one. Odds to win the party? 1-100. Don't fuck with them.
1:50pm - Hannah and the Hacks - 7-1
Chris Marinelli, Hannah Masterson, Mike Pecak, Darren Tait
I don't know. This is the mystery team. On one hand, three former winners + the best putter in the whole thing. On the other hand... How far can Hannah carry them? This will either be a glorious coronation or an awful denouement complete with public backbiting and accusations.
2:00pm - The Skip and Go's - 70000-1
Jerry Brankin, Mike Donlin, Chris Prouty, Todd Weiss
Once. Only once has there been a repeat Champion in the Beer Open. And Mike Donlin drove that team, whipping them to the pinnacle of perfection. A good sign? Sure. Yeah. But.... no way... This team is going to be rightthere... and then German Man will snatch victory from their defeat!
